Lisbon

First thoughts were pretty scary but after a trip around the sights I love it. The colour, shapes of the buildings are wonderful. On our way into town we were warned about pickpockets, especially old men, Romanian men on the trams and gypsy women. He said they are highly skilled and their fingers are like glue. Our hotel on arrival was not to Mel's taste actually she wAs shitting herself. I love the old caged elevator and are sitting on the stairs writing this (only place can get wifi) listening to the guests chatting while I type? I don't understand what they are saying but it doesn't matter portugese is a very sexy language.
We got ourselves on a tour and once we had seen the sights and came back to our hotel it seemed so much more friendly and safe.
We had lunch outside at Belem, a rice prawn soupy dish and a (small) bottle of vino. I am realizing I am over statues and don't even take my camera out now unless it's pretty good.
Went into the Brasilica de Estrella was very peaceful and the architecture was beautiful. On our way back to our hotel we went up the Santa de just a to view the city... Wow.
Wandering the streets we found a nice place for tea and then a street band playing enticed us to a bar/restaurant in the middle of he street for a few Porto. The waiter was very entertaining and topped up my Porto as he passed. one more day in lisbon before we head to Madrid on the night train.
Homeless people sleeping in the square.
