Off to berlin

Off we headed to the train station with plenty of time to spare. I left Mel with the bags on the platform as I went in search of coffee to wake us up. When I got back, mel said our train was here so we boarded. We hadn't even sat down when it started moving. This seemed strange as it wasn't meant to leave for half an hour. Oh shit we were on the wrong train. Mel told one of the guys and he just muttered something about getting off at the next station. So we sat there and Mel panicked. After about 30km a message came over the loud speaker in German and then one sentence in English. Could the 2 girls who were meant to be going to Berlin get off at this stop and wait on platform 2 for their train pls. Phew, when we got off we double checked our train was coming through this way and waited half an hour and we were off. This time on the right train.
We had a comfortable train ride in first class with a wonderful view of the countryside. The trees in Berlin have the largest birds nests in them I have ever seen.
Arrival in Berlin 6 hours later then onto the underground to our hotel and we were greeted with two bottles of becks and 2 waters. These will be replaced each day complimentary.
We decided to head out for food since we hadn't eaten all day and found a nice restaurant where I had an authentic Berlin tea. Potato soup with spicy sausage and then sauerkraut, pork and warm potato salad. Yummy.
Walking off tea we stumbled on the German Xmas markets which were just humming. What could we do but join in with mulled wine. we then spotted an ice skating rink so I just had to have a go cos I'm so good at ice skating. (That is the mulled wine talking as I was hopeless clutching to the sides like a scardy cat and eying up the penguins the younger kids used to stay balanced. Oh well it was fun and I had a god laugh.
Home now and sitting in the hallwY as wifi won't work in our room. We only have tomorrow to sightsee as everything closes up for Xmas 1 and xmas 2.
